Oracle OpenWorld

Since 2007 MeetGreen® has helped Oracle Event Marketing emerge as a leader in sustainable events. Beginning with the production team for the 40,000-participant Oracle OpenWorld, MeetGreen® is helping to guide Oracle’s global event team to act, measure and report on event sustainability, achieving the following success:
  • $850,000 in net costs avoided through sustainable practices at Oracle OpenWorld 2009.
  • 140 tons of material diverted from landfill by reducing materials used, expanding reuse and maximizing donation, recycling and composting, achieving 60% waste diversion. That’s equal to 10 garbage trucks of trash!

Live Earth

What happens when performers across 7 continents come together for 24 hours of music to focus the world's attention on protecting the planet? An amazing story emerges of people dedicated to green working with one another to make sustainability real for 80,000 concert-goers and 2 billion spectators, worldwide. MeetGreen® was responsible for greening the high-profile Giant's Stadium concert:
  • Assembling an 800-person volunteer army to provide education about a pioneering recycling and composting program for Giant’s Stadium, including full conversion to compostable service ware.
  • Achieving a 76% diversion of event waste from landfill.

Think it’s only large events that have an impact? Not true! The Canadian Tourism Commission’s Media Marketplace is a 500-person event that continues to add value through event sustainability by:
  • Contracting to achieve 100% compliance with sustainable venue, catering and guest room practices at no additional charge.
  • Improving to 72% of all menus sourced within 100 miles of the meeting destination.
  • Contributing $4750 of materials to local charities post-event.

Greenbuild International Conference and Expo

MeetGreen® has helped this award-winning event team create one of the most successful ‘green’ association events in North America. An event partner since the first Greenbuild in 2002, MeetGreen® has helped the United States Green Building Council:
  • Earn four IMEX Green Meeting Awards, the highest global accolades for event sustainability.
  • Independently certify compliance with the BS 8901 Sustainable Event Standard, the first conference and event team in North America to do so.
  • Introduce industry-first mandatory minimum sustainability requirements for exhibiting companies.

Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly

MeetGreen® works with UUA to create an event sustainability plan that honors this organization’s Seventh Principle. This tailored approach responds to a personal mandate association members have for environmental and social stewardship that has:
  • Transformed venue waste management practices to improve facility baselines as much as 46%. This amounts to less than 1.5 lbs of trash per event attendee for this 3500-person event!
  • Improved to providing menus with 31% certified organic content.
  • Reduced paper use to save 26 trees, and $6000 against budget.
